Expectations of comfort, security, and visibility have never been greater. The internet of things, so called, means that previously dumb devices are providing data, and opening opportunities for control never before seen. Overall, the democratisation of information, combined with the operations of governments to protect their countries, and the relentless economic pressure to achieve more for less presents unique challenges, but serious opportunities.

Previous work has included detailed interactive thermal modelling for prediction and scaling of thermal systems, acoustic modelling, prediction and auralisation, restoration of damaged audio recordings, software system implementations for parametric environmental control, and development of open sourced modules for control and communication.
